Normal role description: | TMPRSS4 is a membrane-bound serine protease implicated in oncogenesis and tumour metastasis. Induction of TMPRSS4 caused loss of E-cadherin in the SW480 cell line as well as metastasis. TMPRSS4 is upregulated in many different cancer systems. TMPRSS4 may overcome the need for contact-dependent growth in tumour cells by circumventing the cadherin signalling pathway |
