Normal role description: | CTHRC1 is a cell adhesion regulator and a negative regulator of collagen matrix deposition. It is specifically expressed in vascular calcifications of carotid artery lesions and may play a role in vascular remodelling of injured arteries. It also functions as an inhibitor of TGF-β signalling and may play a role in the Planar Cell Polarity (PCP) pathway of non-canonical Wnt signalling, possibly by interaction with, and stabilization of, several of the Frizzled receptors on the cell surface. It is overexpressed in many human solid cancers. |
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: | Only 1 ovarian tumour sample was included in Sanger COSMIC. |
