Normal role description: SCAI is regulator of cell migration and transcription. To faciliate the latter, SCAI inhibits MKL1-induced transcription of the oncoprotein SRF. SCAI also functions through the RhoA (ras homolog gene family, member A)-Dia1 (diaphanous homolog 1) signal transduction pathway to regulate cell migration. Missense mutations in this gene have been found in breast and ovarian tumors.
