Normal role description: ARHGAP25 is a GTPase activating protein of Rho G proteins. The overall protein contains a N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain followed by the RhoGAP domain and a C-terminal coiled-coil domain. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been indentified. This protein has been detected by Northern blot to be expressed in lung, spleen and peripheral blood leukocytes. ARHGAP25 activates Rho monomeric G proteins which have a role in regulating actin remodeling, cell polarity, and cell migration. Dysfunction of ARHGAP25 may have a role in cancer through mediating invasiveness of tumour cells.
