Normal role description: THBS2 is an adhesive glycoprotein that mediates cell-to-cell and cell-to-matrix interactions. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of tumour growth and angiogenesis. Loss of THBS2 is associated with tumour metastasis and neovascularization. It may play anti-angiogenic roles by acting as a ligand for CD36.
