COSMIC ID: CDC25B
Gene location on chromosome: 20p13
Cancer protein type: OP
Effect of cancer mutation on protein: GAIN
Effect of active protein on cancer: PROMOTES

Normal role description: CDC25B is a protein-dual specificity phosphatase. Tyrosine protein phosphatase which functions as a dosage-dependent inducer of mitotic progression. Directly dephosphorylates CDK1 and stimulates its kinase activity. The three isoforms seem to have a different level of activity. As this gene is a inducer of mitotic progression, mutations leading to its increased activity could classify it as an oncoprotein.
Commentary on involvement of protein in cancer: Tyrosine protein phosphatase which functions as a dosage-dependent inducer of mitotic progression. Directly dephosphorylates CDK1 and stimulates its kinase activity. The three isoforms seem to have a different level of activity.
