Cancer Protein Description

This report provides a detailed description of a selected cancer protein with information collected from various sources, including UniProt, the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute’s Catalogue of Somatic Mutations in Cancer (COSMIC), and the Atlas of Genetics and Cytogenetics in Oncology and Haematology.

Protein Name: INPPL1
Gene Name: INPPL1
Protein Full Name: Phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate 5-phospha
Alias: IQ motif containing GTPase activating protein 2; IQGA2
Mass (Da): 180613
Number AA: 1258
UniProt ID: O15357
Locus ID: 3636
COSMIC ID: INPPL1

Normal role description: INPPL1 is a SH2-containing 5'-inositol phosphatase. It is involved in the regulation of insulin function. INPPl1 also plays a role in the regulation of epidermal growth factor receptor turnover and actin remodelling. INPPL1 is also a marker for breast cancer, as it supports growth and metastisis of breast neoplasms.
